Hypnosis is an enjoyable and very effective way to change bad habits into good ones and negative feelings into positive ones. All emotions, beliefs and habits reside in the subconscious mind and hypnosis is the most direct way to reach them.
Many people are apprehensive about hypnosis. Because what most people know about hypnosis they learn from TV or cinema. They may think that when in hypnosis a person is unconscious and unaware of what is happening, or that the hypnotist can control them and make them tell their deepest secrets. Nothing could be further from the truth! What the media paints as a picture of hypnosis has nothing to do with what really happens in a professional hypnotherapy practice.
The Hypnotherapy Session
The therapist will discuss your specific problem area(s). Then, the approach that will produce the best, effective resolution is recommended.
With your consent you are guided into a deep state of physical and mental relaxation. Even strong-willed people if, cooperating with the hypnotherapist, will be successful.
Even when you are fully relaxed, you are still in control and AWARE of everything that is said. MORE IMPORTANTLY, you will REMEMBER what is said afterwards.
Any negative "blocks" that prevent you from reaching your goals are removed and POWERFUL, POSITIVE suggestions to your subconscious mind replace them.
When you emerge from hypnosis, you'll have a new attitude, feel very refreshed and enthusiastic. The suggested course of actions is reviewed and your session is completed.
What does Hypnosis feel like?
When you are in hypnosis you are aware of everything that is said and you are not unconscious. Instead, you are deeply relaxed and mentally very, very focused much more so than when in a normal consciousness. You are able to hear speak and respond. You must be able to actively participate in the session. The therapist does not have any type of power over a person, but is a trained professional who is there to help you. Think of your hypnotist as a guide and you can choose not to follow that guidance. So you see, you could never be controlled nor hypnotized against your will.
What are the benefits of hypnotherapy?
The subconscious mind operates just like a computer in the sense that it must respond to information it receives. If at some time during your past the subconscious mid has lead to believe that we needed to be overweight, we became fat. If it was programmed to believe that cigarettes made us a stronger, more secure person, we began to smoke. With hypnosis, we can access that internal computer and edit those old subconscious ideas. When we do that, our Reponses, behaviours and feelings change also.
Many of us have habits or feelings we've tried to change but nothing we do seems to make much difference. We know how we want to act and how we want to feel and yet will power hasn't been able to make a lasting change. Even when we've consciously been working hard to make the change there's still something deep inside us that just won't let it happen. Hypnosis lets you change those inner feelings so your conscious mind and subconscious mind are in agreement.
In that way when the once overweight person is faced with food, they find that the old inner calling has been replaced with a feeling of fullness and a natural focus on more important things. The person that used to smoke simply doesn't think about cigarettes anymore. And when they see someone else smoke, it just makes them feel good that they don't do that anymore. Because hypnosis can reprogrammed your subconscious feelings, beliefs, attitudes and motivations, the changes are immediate and lasting. This is why hypnosis is becoming so popular.
